Indian Lake Middle School showcased several successful programs during the most recent Indian Lake Schools Community Leader-Senior Appreciation Breakfast. Dozens of community leaders and local senior citizens joined school administrators and students for a fun morning.
First, the ILMS Food Service Staff served up a hearty meal of biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and more. While students helped refill food trays and refresh coffee mugs, IL Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood gave the guests an update on district news. He highlighted the recent 4.5 out of 5 stars that Indian Lake Schools recently received on the state grade cards. He also spoke about the upcoming completion of the HVAC project to add air conditioning and improve air quality at the high school. Also, Dr. Underwood briefly touched on the important facts concerning the renewal of the district's levy on the ballot this fall.
Then he turned things over to ILMS Co-Principal Erin Miller. She showcased the success of ILMS efforts to help students with their mental health, which include the ILMS Sensory Room, the PBIS Laker Store, the addition of emotional support dog Roxy, and increased mental health counseling and other services from the Community Health and Wellness Partners clinic at ILMS.
To wrap up, Mr. Eric Finke highlighted the 21st Century Grant after-school programs that will begin October 16th.
