The Indian Lake Board of Education wrapped up business for 2023 with a quick regular meeting on Tuesday evening.
Indian Lake Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood accepted a $4,000 donation for the music department from the Indian Lake Watershed and the Nashville Hitmakers. The money was raised at the 2023 Hitmakers annual concert event at ILHS in August.
“This has been such a great way for us to support our students in their quest to become better musicians. We’re very thankful that they support our students in this way every year.”
The Board also recognized senior Burke Lillard for being named Third Team All Ohio Football as a defensive back. Lillard led Indian Lake to a great comeback season this fall with a 7-4 record and a playoff berth.
Finally, members discussed filling a seat on the board of education. Superintendent Underwood explains that there will be a vacancy on the board after no one successfully ran for one of the open seats during the November general election. Individuals who are interested in filling this seat are asked to pick up an application in the board office. Applications are due January 5th. Members of the board will decide whom to appoint during their meeting in January.
The board will meet for an organizational meeting on January 11th at 5 pm in the Board Office. Board member Shannon Reese will serve as president pro tempore for that gathering. During that meeting, board members will elect officers and set the meeting schedule for the rest of 2024.
