The recent Lake Effect lessons at all levels focused on how our actions can create ripples that affect the people around us.
Culture is built from the small cues people give each other every day. One response can influence another response. That is a ripple - and those ripples create our Lake Effect. What you treat as normal can become normal. The lesson used key words that are common reactions to decide different ways to respond to an event. The idea is to improve reactions and continue creating a positive culture in the school setting.
The next Indian Lake School Lake Effect Day is Wednesday, October 7th. Wear your BRIGHTEST COLORS and help positive actions spread throughout our school. The theme for this month's Lake Effect lesson is to learn how our actions create ripples that affect the people around us.
The Lakers kicked off Lake Effect Days for the 2026-27 school year with some fancy footwear! This year's district-wide theme is "Be a Light-Step Up, Speak Up, Support Your Crew!"
The recent Lake Effect lessons focused on stepping up, so Lakers were asked to wear their favorite shoes. The idea of stepping up doesn't mean always jumping in. Sometimes the disciplined action is waiting. Sometimes it's going first. Sometimes it's changing what you're doing. Sometimes it's giving someone else room.
The important part is that you're making an intentional choice instead of operating on autopilot.
All Lakers participated with material modified for each grade level.
Indian Lake holds Lake Effect Days each month as part of the R-factor training to focus on character development and anti-bullying.
