Voters in the Indian Lake School District will consider a renewal levy on the ballot this fall.
During last night's regular meeting, board of education members approved a resolution of necessity for the district's one and only 5-year emergency operating levy.
Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood explains that the district will ask for no new money in November.
"The board elected to go with a straight renewal, which will be at the same rate which was originally passed back in 2013, so no increase on that. If the voters pass that levy, it will run from 2025 to 2030."
In other news, Community Health and Wellness Partners CEO Tara Bair gave the board an update on the district health clinic which opened in January. The clinic has served nearly 300 patients, many taking advantage of on campus mental health services. Bair reports that when students or staff use the CHWP Clinic at school, they are only out of class an average of 32 minutes.
At the meeting, board members also recognized ILHS sprinter Elayna Richardson. In the winter, she placed 8th in the 200 meter dash during the State Indoor Track and Field Championships. This spring, she also advanced to the OHSAA Track and Field State Meet for her school-record breaking time in the 400-meter dash.
Finally, the board approved a contract with Washington Township to continue the School Resource Officer services with SRO Logan Miller for a second year.
The Indian Lake Board of Education will meet again on Monday, July 24th at 6:30 pm in the Board Office.
