An army of "Battle Pups" converged on Indian Lake Schools recently to help students and staff recover from the devastating tornado. "Battle Pups-Way to Battle" were created by the Martin family from Canal Winchester after their young son Brady was diagnosed with Leukemia. They wanted everyone to feel comfort and know that they never have to battle alone.
The Martin family and friends, including 12-year old Brady who is one-year cancer-free, brought 1800 Battle Pups to ILES, ILMS and ILES for every student and staff member.

Brady explained that several people in the Columbus area nominated Indian Lake Schools to receive the gifts, "We heard that peoples' houses were destroyed in the terrible weather. We give them (the Pups) out for any hard situation. That is really hard...we're just trying to bring comfort."
Students and staff members in all buildings were delighted to be able to pick the pup of their choice and take it home. They also got a card explaining the Martin family mission:
"Our hope is that these sweet pups will be a way for warriors to battle and bond together. The pups have been Armed with Strength to fight alongside you, no matter what your battle may look like."
Battle Pups are relatively new and have been donated to a few schools including a Columbus school after the death of a teacher and the Tusky Valley Schools after a deadly bus accident. Learn more at https://waytobattle.com/battle-pups/
