This is the image for the news article titled All-State Honors ChoirThree ILHS chorale leaders are singing with the best of the best students in Ohio this weekend. The trio of senior soprano Christina Bowen, junior soprano Belle Elliott and junior tenor Colin Powers is headed to the Ohio Music Education Association's All-State Choir Concert at the Columbus Convention Center on Saturday, February 10th. The singers were selected for this prestigious event through audition tapes submitted in the summer.
Colin Powers explains, "At the end of last school year I came in and sang my song from my sophomore Solo and Ensemble event and that's what I sent in. We didn't hear back until about August that we'd been accepted."
Bowen is eager to be a part of the prestigious group. She says, "I think it's really exciting especially since it's my senior year and I'll be able to end on a good note. I'm interested in learning more about how to sing with big groups since I'll be going to college and singing in choirs."
All three attended intense rehearsals before the weekend concert event.
Elliott thinks this experience will help as the ILHS musical approaches in early March.
Belle says, "I"m hoping to learn new techniques for sopranos, how to sing up at that octave and not strain your voice."
The All-State Honors Choir concert features more than 200 singers from all areas of Ohio and will be directed by Dr. Sandra Snow from the Michigan State University College of Music.
