In February, Indian Lake Schools held a review of the district's Wellness Policy 8510. A review is required to take place every three years.
Gabe Wickline (board/parent), Jeff Reprogle (EL Principal), Kyle Wagner (HS Principal/parent), Mike Pequignot (PE Teacher), Kourtney Thompson (Nurse), Susan Young (Food Service Director), and Rob Underwood (Superintendent) were all part of the meeting.
The group discussed the Certification of Standards Governing Types of Foods and Beverages Sold on School Premises. They also discussed a report from district Food Service Director Susan Young that covered state and federal requirements, the budget and other Food Service Department needs.
Mrs. Young verified healthy food options are served as required. Also, she indicated that the stigmatizing of students who do not have money is prohibited and the food service staff does all it can to prevent it. She also reported that Water is also available to students as required.
In addition, Mr. Pequignot reported that health and PE standards are covered as indicated in the policy. Finally, Mr. Wagner verified vertical integration of the standards.
