SADD Speaker touts Positive Behaviors, Magic!

ILHS students got a sleight of hand and advice on life from magician and motivational speaker David McCreary.
The Indian Lake High School SADD group sponsored the visit just before Thanksgiving Break. You may recognize McCreary as the co-host of the longtime Ohio Lottery Show "Cash Explosion."
McCreary brought several students on stage to experience the fun and mystery behind his magic tricks. He challenged students to look for the fun in life, no matter the circumstances.
"I do agree these are some of the best days of your life, but that doesn't mean you're not going through it! You guys are trying to figure out life at a young age and that can be terrifying, I get it." He continued, "But man, if you can do it with some joy, some happiness, you'll look back on these days and know these really were some of the best days of my life and everyday would be a little better. So laugh, laugh with your friends, laugh with your family!"
But McCreary, didn't stop there. He also challenged students to examine their own words and actions, and to change their ways if today's behavior is going to embarrass them in the future.
"To the bully in the room, I promise you, you're going to look back someday, might be 5-10 years down the road, and you'll say ugh that's not who I am, that's not who I wanted to be."
McCreary explained that attitude is often how classmates remember one another down the road, so adopting a kind demeanor and positive attitude now will improve their image for years to come.
McCreary's message aligns with this year's Indian Lake School District theme "All Boats Have a Place at the Lake" to deter bullying and emphasize acceptance.
