McPherson Named IL Quest Teacher of the Year

Quest Federal Credit Union honored their Teachers of the Year from local school districts with a luncheon and awards ceremony. The event was held recently at Bella Vino in Bellefontaine. Quest Federal Credit Union CEO Matt Jennings led the ceremony. ILMS fifth grade teacher Jana McPherson is the Teacher of the Year from Indian Lake. She was nominated by ILMS Co-Principal Erin Miller, along with a parent and a student. They wrote: "Mrs. McPherson is very understanding and patient with her students." "When someone struggles, she is willing to give up her own time and help them to better understand. She loves all children the same." "Mrs. McPherson has a team-first attitude. She is willing to help her team in any way that she can." As a 1997 ILHS alum, McPherson was very honored to receive the recognition and after 21 years in education she still loves coming to school. "I just really appreciate the opportunity to represent Indian Lake Schools and receive this award. It was so thoughtful of those who nominated me and I am so grateful to be a teacher at Indian Lake and to get a chance to affect the lives of our students everyday," she said. Other teachers recognized included Mr. Stahl from Ben Logan, Miss Baker from Bellefontaine, Mrs. Wren from Calvary Christian and Mr. Alig from Ohio Hi-Point. McPherson's family and administrative team accompanied her to the luncheon. She received a glass trophy and gift certificate. Special thanks to Quest Federal Credit Union for honoring our educators!!
