At halftime of a recent varsity home football game, Indian Lake administrators handed out three very meaningful awards.
The first OHSAA award went to Don Lewis who served as the voice of the Lakers for decades. He called Indian Lake Football games for 18 years and Boys Basketball games for 25 years with knowledge, excitement and Laker Spirit. Last year was his final season, as he turns over the microphone duties to Mr. Mike Maurer. We thank Don for his many years of professionalism and Laker Pride over the loudspeaker.
The second OHSAA Award went to Bill Fulton. Most of you know Coach Fulton as a longtime science teacher and wrestling coach at Indian Lake High School. You might not have known that Coach Fulton has also spent 45 years in the Indian Lake press box operating the scoreboard for the football team and fans. Without Bill Fulton, we would not know where we are on the field! We thank Coach Fulton for his behind-the-scenes efforts for more than four decades to keep the Lakers moving toward the end zone!
The OHSAA Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award is for a person or persons in the community who exemplify good sportsmanship, one who is a positive role model for others, a person who reflects a high level of ethics and integrity in dealings with students and the interscholastic athletic program, one who supports and demonstrates positive values, and a person who has contributed to the well-being of the youth of the local high school.
Finally, Indian Lake Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood presented recently retired Indian Lake School District Treasurer Coleen Reprogle an award of appreciation for her 30 years of service. Coleen was joined on the field by her husband, Doug Reprogle, who also recently retired from 30-plus years in the classroom at Indian Lake High School.
Mrs. Reprogle guided our district to decades of financial stability and leaves us this year in very solid financial standing. Coleen’s expertise and careful examination of our spending has instilled in our administration and board a strong sense of public duty and fiscal responsibility. We thank Coleen for her many years of service, not only as a successful district treasurer, but as a dedicated parent, a knowledgeable school leader, and the highest example of what an Indian Lake Laker should be.
