This is the image for the news article titled Jordan Toma Inspires ILMS StudentsWith the motto "My Struggle is My Strength," Jordan Toma is urging students across the US and right here at Indian Lake to have confidence no matter what!
Toma recently spoke to Indian Lake Middle School students about learning differences, perseverance, mental health, and recognizing individual strengths. His core message centers on resilience, asking for help, and understanding that every student has value and purpose.
After growing up struggling with ADHD, dyslexia and other learning challenges, he wrote the book "I'm Just A Kid With An IEP" (individual education plan) and he shares his experience on social media channels with the same name.
He told ILMS students to bet on themselves and they will never lose.
"All I want to do is make sure every one of you here gets your moment. I don't know how your story ends." He continued, "But all of you in here, I'm going to make a promise today. Nowhere in your story will it ever read that you gave up--you guys with me on that? And if you're sitting here today and you don't think you have anyone that believes in you, I believe in every single one of you!"
ILMS 6th grader Jaxon Simpson spoke with Toma one on one after the assembly.
"I have ADHD and some of the same kinds of problems. I just felt a connection with him."

Toma also presented to students at Ohio Hi Point Career Center. His visit was made possible by a Community Wellness grant from Mary Rutan Hospital.
