The staff at Indian Lake Schools is ready to support their crew this school year!
The entire staff gathered recently for an all-district Opening Day meeting in the ILHS cafeteria. After the ILHS Food Service staff served up a hearty breakfast, Indian Lake Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood gave the group an update in district finances, which are in good shape. He also commended the staff on great state test scores from the spring.
Curriculum Director Kelli Tebbe-Miller introduced the theme for this year, which is "Step Up, Speak Up and Support Your Crew!"
She explains, "The goal isn't to have students behave because an adult told them what to do. We want students who can recognize the moment themselves--something needs to be done, so I'm going to step up,--something isn't right, so I'm going to speak up--someone needs my help, so I'm going to support my crew. That's student ownership, but it it has to be built with intention and with our help throughout the year."
The rest of Opening Day was spent doing in building level meetings and getting ready for the first day of school.
During Opening Day, Indian Lake Schools also introduced new staff members and recognized long-time staff members for their years of service with special awards.
They are:
IL District- Dustin Plikerd (10 years), Erin Miller (15 years), Pat Smith (15 years), Rob Underwood (15 years)
ILHS- Dan Kirkpatrick (5 years) and Kathy Fulkerson (30 years)
ILMS- Sarah Berg (20 years), Alicia Pickering (20 years), Nettie Thieman (25 years), Brian Tidwell (25 years), Nick Tucci (25 years)
ILES- Kate Becraft (5 years), Jessica Hawkins (5 years), Janelle Maul (5 years), Abbie Roe (5 years), McKenzie Thorpe (5 years), Alyssa Akers (10 years), Tina Kelly-Lowe (10 years), Tonya Neer (25 years) and Lisa Codora (30 years).
Indian Lake Schools start on Wednesday, August 19th.
