Lakers,
We are very aware that there are generic school threats happening all over the country and in our area at this time. The safety of our students and staff is what matters the most. Please know that if there were any threats to our young people, staff members, or any facilities, we would take action and alert you at once. At this time, there are no threats to the Indian Lake School District. Still, we are very actively working with law enforcement officials to identify any messages on social media and/or in any other form that might mean harm to Indian Lake or any neighboring districts.
Today, we had several young people come to us with concerns, prompting us to investigate further. We are proud of these students for coming forward and taking an active role in keeping all Lakers safe. We encourage you to talk to your students about reporting their concerns involving any possible threats they may see on social media. By this, we mean immediately pointing out possible threats to a parent, trusted adult, school administrator or law enforcement, NOT reposting/sharing on their platforms. Sharing/reposting threats could be considered joining in or agreeing with the threat. Students who make threats, either online or in person, face serious consequences at school and with law enforcement, even if the threat was meant as a joke.
Finally, we want to remind you about the Safer Ohio School Tip Line (844-723-3764). This anonymous reporting system is available 24/7 to help students, families, and community members report any concerns about safety. You can report concerns by phone, text, the Safer Ohio smartphone app, or via their online form. Crisis response professionals will work to ensure that the appropriate authorities are notified and able to take action.
We thank our Indian Lake students, staff, families and community for being alert and doing your part to keep every Laker safe.

Sincerely,
Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood
