Altstaetter Signs to Play Basketball with Wilmington University
Indian Lake three-sport standout senior Stephanie Altstaetter is excited to take her basketball game to the next level.
She recently signed to play hoops for Wilmington University during Indian Lake High School’s Athletic Signing Day event.
Altstaetter is ready to be a part of a new team and contribute in any way that she can.
“I’ve been nervous about being able to find a group of friends, but being on the sports team right away will be good for that. I’ll also be able to work out and stay in shape,” Altstaetter continued.
“I hope to be a reliable big. I probably won’t be much of a scorer my freshman and sophomore year, but I hope I’m able to give some quality minutes so some older girls can rest.”

Altstaetter is one of the most decorated girls basketball players in recent ILHS history. She was First-Team CBC in basketball for three years. She was also selected as a Third Team All Ohio player her senior season. In addition, Stephanie was the CBC Volleyball Player of the Year her senior season and a valuable member of the ILHS Girls Track Team.
Altstaetter plans to study Animal Science and Nutrition.
Jaelyn Hughes Signs to Bowl at Rio Grande University
An Indian Lake senior who led her team to the state tournament is headed to bowl at the University of Rio Grande.
Jaelyn Hughes recently signed to her official letter of intent during Indian Lake High School’s Athletic Signing Day event.
Hughes says, “I’m hoping to contribute. I have a pretty high average and I’m hoping I get to be a starter. We have a lot of tournaments and I’m super excited for the season.”

Hughes has been a high roller on the ILHS Bowling Team all four years of high school. She earned Second Team CBC this season and during her sophomore year. Hughes was a First Team CBC bowler as a junior. She led the ILHS Women’s Bowling Team through the sectional and district tournaments this year to advance to the state competition.
Hughes chose Rio Grande because they are one of the only schools in the state with a Women’s Bowling program and her college credit plus credits will transfer.
She plans to study social work.
Lones to Pitch for Wittenberg University
After much success this spring, Indian Lake senior Gavin Lones is looking forward to extending his baseball career to college!
Lones recently signed his letter of intent to pitch for Wittenberg University during the Athletic Signing Day event at Indian Lake High School.
Gavin is exited to play in an established program close to home.
“Brian McGee is the coach and they’re on a pretty big win streak right now. I hope to contribute and be a big part of their future success.”
Lones played a major role in the Indian Lake Varsity Baseball team’s CBC Championship this season. He was named First Team All League as a DH in 2023 and First Team All CBC as a pitcher in 2022. He was also named Second Team All CBC as a pitcher in 2021.
Gavin plans to study Sports Administration at Wittenberg in hopes of becoming an athletic director.
Martin to Bowl at Wittenberg University
Another high rolling Laker is continuing her Bowling career in college.
ILHS Senior Jalan Martin recently signed to join the Women’s Bowling Team at Wittenberg University during Indian Lake’s Athletic Signing Day event.
Martin says, “I’m excited to work with a professional bowler. Shannon Pluhowsky is their new coach and she’s a really good bowler, so I’m excited to learn new techniques and skills from her.”
Martin helped lead the ILHS Girls Bowling Team to a 6th place finish at the State Bowling Tournament this season. Martin was Second Team All CBC this year and First Team All CBC in 2022. She also earned Special Mention all league as a sophomore in 2021.
Martin is happy to be bowling close to home. She plans to study Accounting and Finance.
Martin to Wrestle at Adrian College
ILHS senior Reece Martin only wrestled one season, but she loved it so much she’s signed to wrestle at the next level!
During the recent Indian Lake Athletic Signing Event she officially inked her paperwork for Adrian College in Michigan.
Martin says, “I felt Adrian was very homey and they have a great wrestling program for women. I’ll get to wrestle the best of the best.”
Martin led the first major group of girls wrestlers at Indian Lake this winter. They didn’t have a full team, but that did not stop them from placing as a team at several tournaments because they were so successful.
Besides wrestling, Martin was a standout soccer player for ILHS and a two-time regional qualifier in Track and Field. She plans to study Criminal Justice.
Miller to Bowl and play Softball for UNOH
Senior Andi Miller is always up for a challenge!
Despite being fairly new to two sports, she has signed to both the Bowling and Softball Teams at the University of Northwest Ohio.
She completed her paperwork during the recent Athletic Signing Day at ILHS.
Andi was a one-year member of the ILHS Girls Bowling Team that went to state this year. She’s never played softball, but she’s ready to learn the game.
“My sister walked on (the softball team) and they asked me to join, so I have a lot to learn. In bowling, I also have a lot to learn, but I’m really excited for the college athletic experience.”
Along with participating in the ILHS Bowling Team, Miller has been valuable member of the ILHS Cross Country and Track teams throughout her years in high school.
She plans to study to become a Medical Assistant and work at a local hospital.
Pequignot Commits to Soccer/Track and Field at Carroll
ILHS graduate Grace Pequignot is following in her brother’s footsteps.
She is headed to Carroll University in Wisconsin to join the Women’s Soccer Team and their Track and Field Team. Grace’s brother, Ethan Pequignot, is a member of the Men’s Soccer Team, so it’s familiar territory.
Grace says, “We took a college visit my junior year to see Ethan and I honestly loved all the study places, I loved the architecture, how modern it is, while being the oldest school in Wisconsin. Everyone was friendly and it’s a small town vibe.”
Grace recently signed her official paperwork during Indian Lake’s Athletic Signing Day. She’s been a leader on the ILHS Girls Soccer Team, Girls Swim Team and the Track and Field Team as a regional qualifier in shot put.
She looks forward to new opportunities at Carroll.
“I’m really excited about team building. My roommate is also on the team and we’re looking at the same major. Just building those relationships with the team is important.”
Pequignot plans to study Exercise Science.
Shepherd to Goal Keep at Muskingum University
ILHS grad Gabe Shepherd is looking forward to defending the goal at Muskingum University.
He recently signed to play soccer during the Indian Lake Athletic Signing Day surrounded by his friends and family.
Gabe says he’s looking forward to a new beginning at Muskingum.
“The program is in a rebuild right now with a new head coach and a new coaching staff. They look really promising. By the short amount that I’ve seen them, they’re really turning the program around and I’d love to be part of building something successful.”
Shepherd has been a steady goal keeper at Indian Lake for several seasons. He also plays on regional soccer teams outside of school.
Gabe plans to double major in Exercise Science and Nutrition.
