Students were able to sing out and celebrate a year of change during the 2021 IL Spring Choral Concert!Both the 7/8th Grade Choir and the ILHS Chorale performed for a limited audience Tuesday night in the ILHS Auditorium for the first time this year. Winter concerts were spread out and held in the main gym. The Chorale celebrated their many seniors with the traditional rose ceremony. Each senior presented a rose to someone in the audience who has supported them during their career in music. Some seniors asked for an extra rose to give to retired IL music teacher Judy Grubbs, who was in attendance.
ILHS Senior Chorale members are: Hailee Reser, Kayla Roberts, Douglas Bungard, Dylan Rice, Nicolette Dague, Lili Roby, Ryan Braig, James Parker, Raelyn Parsell, Holly Harford, Dustin Franks, Carson Shepherd, Ella Wagner, Robby Benedict, Brandan Rettig and Brian Downey.
Senior Doug Bungard was presented with the National School Choral Award and the Director's Award went to senior Kayla Roberts.
Choir and Chorale Director Tracey Notestine expressed her gratitude to the senior class for accepting her in this new role at the high school and for pushing to have an excellent chorale despite masks, challenges with rehearsal space and not being able to attend OMEA contests in person. Still, the ILHS Chorale recently earned a superior rating with their virtual submission.
