Indian Lake’s most academically accomplished high school seniors were applauded for their efforts and sacrifices during the Covid-19 pandemic.

ILHS held a Rotary Club Honors Program and Dessert recently for 25 seniors who have earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher during their high school career. The event was in place of the Annual Bellefontaine Rotary Club Logan County Honors Night, which normally brings together academic achievers from all area high schools. That event is cancelled this year because of the Covid-19 health crisis.

Bellefontaine Rotary Club member, ILHS alum and Indian Lake School Board Vice President Chad Ross served as the speaker. He thanked the students for their continued efforts to achieve academic excellence over the past year and he apologized for all the events and activities that have been altered or cancelled to help keep the community safe. He continued, “I guarantee that you will have a personal pandemic some time in your life….and this experience will help you persevere.”

The Bellefontaine Rotary Club provided certificates, a letter of recognition and programs for the event, held in the ILHS Media Center. After remarks from Principal Kyle Wagner, the students enjoyed desserts.

ILHS students recognized were:

Ryan Braig, Douglas Bungard, Allix Cotterman, Brian Downey, Kyle Faulder, Dustin Franks, Holly Harford, Kyleigh Huffer, Jacob King, Lane Mefford, Raelyn Parsell, Hayden Pummel, Victoria Rafac, Lillian Roby, Ashlyn Shaner, Carson Shepherd, Samantha Swygart, Kayli Tussing, Brandon Villa, Ella Wagner, Melanie Watson and Erika Wells. Not in attendance, but also honored were Grace Moore, Angela Pajimula and Kayla Roberts.

This year’s Rotary Club scholarships will be announced as a later date.
