Heidi Golliday McKenna combines a friendly personality with a bold passion for training.

This 1994 Indian Lake High School graduate is the current Vice President of Global Human Resources for GNC, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based American company selling health and nutrition related products, including vitamins, supplements, minerals, herbs, sports nutrition, diet, and energy products.

McKenna earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business from Wright State University and now holds a PHR (Professional Human Resources Certification) with more than 20 years of Human Resources experience. She spent eight years at American Eagle Outfitters, where she was promoted four times. She also served three years in Human Resources at  Dick’s Sporting Goods before going to GNC.

She offers this advice for students considering a career in HR, "Human Resources is not only helping people with their career goals but also assisting organizations with the correct structure in place to support the Company goals.  There are so many aspects of HR that anyone can get involved in that may reflect someones’ personality best: recruiting, training, generalist work, compensation and benefits.  Originally, I majored in education. HR is similar because it focuses on training and teaching adults."

During her time at ILHS, McKenna was an Honor Roll student and a decorated member of the volleyball, basketball and softball teams. She is one of a handful of ILHS basketball players to score 1,000 points during her career on the court and be recognized as an All-Ohio player. McKenna was also a member of Choir, Band, National Honor Society and Key Club.

She recounts her favorite memory of her time at ILHS,"It would have to be winning the Volleyball Sectionals as a Senior.  We were not expected to go this far and we played as a team and never gave up.  We had so much fun during the season and proved so much to ourselves and others!"

Heidi has been married for 18 years to David McKenna and they reside in Sewickley, PA.  They have a son, Kian McKenna, who is 8 years old and plays hockey, baseball, basketball, soccer and golf.  Heidi was recently the 8u baseball Coach for Kian and won the 8u championship as the only female head coach at the Quaker Valley Baseball Association.  They are active with sports, traveling, and supporting their local Pittsburgh teams.
McKenna says her days at Indian Lake High School helped shape her into the person she is today.

"My coaches, teachers, and upperclassman I knew influenced me the most. You may not think they know what they are talking about, or think you know more, but these people know what they are talking about.  They have lifelong experiences that everyone should listen to.  The best advice that I can give is: Work Hard, Play Hard, and always do the right thing!"
