Superintendent Rob Underwood updated the board on several projects happening on campus over the summer months, highlighting an upcoming flooring project in sections of the high school that include the auditorium, north end classrooms, the high school media center, the choir room, the band room, and several offices.
Underwood explains, "The floors in the '97 addition of the high school are original carpet and they were in dire need of replacement. Thanks to some ESSER II federal funding that we recently received we were able to use that money to fully fund the project. Also as part of this project we are going to give a facelift to our 1968 locker rooms which are just off the main gym."
The total cost of the flooring project is approximately $205,500. Most of the project will be complete before school begins. Underwood also explained that the event parking lots at the high school are right now being paved as part of a revolving annual paving program.
The board also accepted the retirement of long-time elementary aide Terry Beck and accepted a $5,000 donation from Quest Federal Credit Union to the Indian Lake FFA pole barn project.
The Indian Lake Board of Education will meet again at 5 pm on Monday, August 16th, ahead of the district's Open House Night.
