The State of Ohio has asked schools to offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to 16, 17, and 18-year olds.  If there is enough interest from parents, Indian Lake High School may provide vaccinations during the school day to those students. In order to determine if enough families would participate in the vaccinations, we ask parents to complete the very short IL Parent Covid-19 Vaccination Survey by Monday, April 19.  Completion of the survey does not require participation in the vaccinations.  The survey is for planning purposes only.  If there is enough interest to offer a vaccination clinic on campus, school officials will contact parents who indicated that their child would participate.  Those parents will then be required to complete a “Consent to Administer COVID-19 Vaccine” form prior to the administration of the vaccine.

Thank you for completing this survey for all of your 16, 17, and 18-year-old students as soon as possible so that we can finalize plans.

Message from Governor Mike DeWine:

Ohio’s teachers and school personnel have done an amazing job educating our children throughout the pandemic. Please let your team know that I appreciate their hard work and dedication.

The COVID-19 vaccines have been shown to be very safe and effective in preventing the virus. Once enough people are vaccinated, we will all be able to get back to living the life we want.

I’m writing today to ask you to partner with your local health department or other provider (e.g., children’s hospitals, hospital networks, or retail pharmacies) to hold vaccination clinics for eligible students before the end of the school year.

Your local health department can help facilitate planning with local providers with available Pfizer vaccine -- the only vaccine currently authorized for 16- and 17-year-olds. For example, Columbus Public Health and Franklin County Public Health have worked with other providers in the county to pool their Pfizer vaccine supply and have held clinics in school buildings. Participating schools were responsible for getting parental consent forms signed ahead of the clinic.

Vaccinations remain our best offense to the virus and our best opportunity to keep our kids in school and get our lives back to normal. The next few weeks represent an important window: Students are in school and may not otherwise have access to vaccines. Time is of the essence as we endeavor to vaccinate as many eligible students as possible before the end of the school year.

Thank you for all your efforts to help protect your students from COVID-19 and your willingness to take on this very significant vaccination effort.
