Several scheduled presentations were postponed because of the inclement weather.
Board members voted to adopt the 2021-22 Indian Lake School Calendar that staff members chose just after winter break. Superintendent Rob Underwood explains that next year's calendar is very similar to this year's calendar, including a spring break. One difference is that Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Presidents' Day will no longer be designated as possible make-up days if the district exceeds the five allotted calamity days before those dates. Superintendent Underwood says the district will simply use remote learning days to make-up lost days, instead of scheduling school on those federal holidays.
In addition, Underwood read a letter to the board from basketball official Ken McMann. He complimented the rigorous play and courteous conduct of the Indian Lake Boys Basketball team members and coaching staff after officiating two games earlier this season.
The board also voted to adopt a resolution selecting Mays Consulting as architect to provide design and construction services for needed repairs to the ILHS roof and EFIS. They also reviewed the district's Career Advising Policy, which recently added the program Naviance to complement current activities.
Finally, District Treasurer Coleen Reprogle reported that the state funding reduction Indian Lake received in Fiscal Year 2020 was carried forward to Fiscal Year 2021 and totaled $361,748. However, she has received word that the district will receive $198,396 of that reduction back during the remainder of Fiscal Year 2021.
The Indian Lake Board of Education will meet again March 15th.
