The board held their meeting prior to the All District Open House event.
Board members voted to hike the pay for substitute teachers, bus aides, secretaries, custodians, grounds keepers, food service staff, educational assistants, and bus drivers. Superintendent Underwood said,
"It's getting more and more difficult to get substitutes in our district, so we increased those rates to be more competitive in the county to make sure we continue to get good quality substitutes."
The board also approved a project to repair and replace the EIFS, or stucco areas, of the high school and middle school and parts of the adjacent roofs that are failing.
Underwood explains, "We've had leaks in our high school roof for numerous years and thankfully, some of the Covid-relief money is helping us to offset those costs so that we can make those repairs that are drastically needed."
The project is expected to take 6-8 months and cost approximately $2.4 million.
Finally, the board adjusted the time of the September 20th meeting from 6:30 pm to 5 pm.
The first day of classes at Indian Lake Schools is August 18th.
