The Indian Lake Board of Education is entering into agreements with local villages that will benefit the district, the villages and the community at large.  During the regular April meeting, the board voted to accept a purchase agreement from Lakeview Village Council to buy the former school site there. The board also voted to enter into an agreement with Huntsville Village Council to purchase the former school site in that village contingent upon sale of a portion of the site at public auction.

Superintendent Pat O’Donnell said the district and the villages have been working together on these deals for many weeks. “We feel that these agreements are the best way to satisfy the needs and wants of the school district, the villages and the community.  The villages gain valuable green space that sports associations and families will continue to be able to use for years to come."

A thorough review of the deeds by legal counsel determined that previous school boards purchased all
parcels making up each property. The sites in Huntsville and Lakeview were the former locations for the district’s two elementary schools until 2009. At that time, the schools were combined under one roof as Indian Lake Elementary on the grounds of the Indian Lake Local School’s campus.
