Indian Lake High School/Ohio Hi Point FFA students performed better than ever in this year’s spring judging contests, including two State Champions!
The Poultry Judging team placed third overall in Ohio out of 65 teams. ILHS Sophomore Allison Kinney earned the top individual score in the state out of more than 1380 participants! Members of the Poultry Judging Team are: Allison Kinney (1st overall out of 1381 individuals), Jacob King, Stephanie Altstaetter, Jackson Young, Gary Campbell, Allix Cotterman, Carlie Nickel, Kendall Cotterman, Lucas Conley and Jalan Martin. The team earns a state banner for the first time.
Not to be outdone, the ILHS/OHP FFA Livestock Judging Team placed fifth overall in the state out of more than 180 teams. Freshman Ava Shroyer took first place out of nearly 1400 students!
Livestock Judging Team members are: Ava Shroyer (1st overall out of 1381 individuals), Allison Culp, Hunter Gross, Cheyenne Hill, Colby Borgerding, Shania Fruchey, Kayla Cummins and Mark Wolf. The team will receive a state banner and they qualified for a trip to a fall livestock show out of state where they will compete against teams from other states.
In addition, both Kinney and Shroyer will be recognized at the Virtual State FFA Convention April 29th and 30th for their accomplishments.
Finally, the ILHS/OHP FFA Dairy Cattle team had another strong year, placing ninth in the state out of 91 teams. The successful junior students started mentoring a group of freshmen this year so that ILHS can continue to have a competitive team for years to come. Individuals on the team are: Ethan Snapp (11th overall out of 488 individuals), Luke Jackson, Trenton Fulkerson, Seth Thornburgh, Ashlynn Biederman, Kaleb Hurley, Molly Partington, Ian Wischmeyer and Tony Cummins.
