This is the image for the news article titled Watkins Earns FFA American DegreeThe Indian Lake/Ohio Hi Point FFA Chapter recently received confirmation that 2018 Indian Lake High School graduate Melanie Watkins has earned an American FFA Degree.
She will officially receive the distinguished award during the 2019 FFA National Convention in Indianapolis on November 2, 2019.

As the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization, the American FFA Degree shows an FFA member’s dedication to his or her chapter and state FFA association. It demonstrates the effort FFA members apply toward their supervised agricultural experience and the outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement they exhibited through their FFA career. Young people eligible for the degree must have completed high school, been active in their FFA Chapter for at least 3 years, have earned a State FFA Degree, have completed at least 50 hours of community service, and have in operation and have maintained records to substantiate an outstanding supervised agricultural experience program earning $10,000. 
Watkins served as the ILHS/OHP Chapter Secretary and was an active four-year member. She earned a State FFA Degree in 2018. She is the first Indian Lake graduate to earn an American FFA Degree in at least a decade.
