**Update: The 50 Years of Indian Lake Concert event featuring the Cowsills, Nashville Hitmakers Even Stevens and Mike Loudermilk, local band SNL and the ILHS Jazz Ensemble was a huge success in March! As a result, at the April Board of Education Meeting, Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce representatives presented Indian Lake Superintendent Rob Underwood with a donation of $4,000. The money is part of the proceeds of the event and will go to the Indian Lake Music Department for the purchase of needed band instruments. Chamber Director Pam Miller says they hope to continue holding a concert event at ILHS in the spring in coming years. 50 Years of Indian Lake Concert Event

50 Years of Indian Lake Concert Event50 Years of Indian Lake Concert Event The 50 Years of Indian Lake Concert was a mix of nostalgia and even some new music! Indian Lake Schools and the Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce teamed up on March 9th for a concert event to celebrate two special occasions; the 50th anniversary of the ILHS facility and the 50th anniversary of the Cowsills hit song "Indian Lake." ILHS Class of 1973 graduate and Logan County Commissioner Joe Antram served as one of the night's emcees. He brought his 1969 yearbook on stage, recalling the honor of being the first freshman class to spend an entire year in the then "new" ILHS facility. Antram remarked, "We were so excited for the future of Indian Lake Schools at the time. Now looking into the audience, this IS the future of Indian Lake 50 years later!" Local duo Steve and Lynette Smalley kicked off the show, followed by country music songwriting hall of fame member Even Stevens (an Indian Lake graduate) and legendary guitarist Mike Loudermilk, both representing the Nashville Hitmakers. The Indian Lake Vocal Jazz Ensemble performed after intermission. Antram and retired Indian Lake music teacher Judy Grubbs engaged in some on-stage fun, free styling "Don't Rock the Boat, Baby!" Then the Cowsills came out, opening their concert by giving the crowd what they came for, the "Indian Lake" song. Bob Cowsill said, "There are many Indian Lakes in the country, but we love coming to our Indian Lake!" The band, made up of siblings Susan Cowsill, Paul Cowsill, Bob Cowsill, and several other family members on drums, keyboard and guitar performed their major hits "Hair" and "The Flower Girl" and covered several other songs from the era. As the inspiration for the hit show, "The Partridge Family," the Cowsills also played that show's hit, "I Think I Love You." They even played a new song that they recently wrote and recorded called "Get Up!" The concert event wraps up the celebration of 50 years of the Indian Lake High School facility. Special thanks to "Dr. Phil" who anonymously paid for the band to come!
