An Indian Lake Middle School student artist has claimed the highest accolade for junior high art in the entire state of Ohio.
8th grader Cheyenne Hill was recently named the State Middle School Winner for Artistic Excellence in the 2018 Ohio Art Education Association Youth Art Month and The Young People’s Art Exhibition Contest for her Color Theory Zentangle City work of art. The awards ceremony took place on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus.
Cheyenne was certainly surprised to win the prestigious award.
"Art is a favorite hobby. I like my class and I've done some 4-H projects involving art," Hill said. "I really liked doing the zentangle design. Even though it took a lot of time, it came out really cool."
Hill’s work, along with one hundred thirty other pieces from the nine regions of the state that represent the Ohio Art Education Association, are on display until March 16th during normal business hours at the Rhodes State Office Tower.
The Young People’s Art Exhibition Contest is sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association and Sargent Art. Cheyenne’s work was submitted by
ILMS Art Educator Rebecca Dotson and was matted by Rick Fuller of Framing by Fuller from Huntsville.
In addition to art, Hill is active in band, volleyball, basketball, track, Student Council and Builders Club at ILMS.
