The Indian Lake Board of Education welcomed a new member and approved a request to put a renewal levy on the May ballot during their annual organizational meeting in January.
Treasurer Coleen Reprogle administered the Oath of Office to new board member Scott Staley to start the meeting. Staley was elected to replace retiring member Mark Albright. Long-time board member Kim Boswell also took the Oath of Office after being elected to a fifth term. Gabe Wickline was unanimously voted Board President for the second year in a row, while Chad Ross was chosen to serve as Vice President.

The board considered and passed several annual housekeeping items to begin the new year and set committee assignments (listed below). The board also scheduled the meeting dates for the coming year (listed below), with most meetings to be held on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Indian Lake Board Office except the months of January, February, July and August.  The January regular board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 16th because of the Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday. The February meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 20th because of Presidents’ Day.  The July meeting date will be July 23rd instead of the 16th because there are five Mondays in that month. The August meeting will be on August 20th at 5 pm to allow the public to attend the meeting during Open House Night.
In addition, the board passed a resolution to place a renewal five-year emergency operating levy on the May ballot in order to meet the early February filing deadline. The levy is a renewal to continue the current emergency operating levy that was passed in 2014 and will expire on December 31, 2019.  The current levy collects $2,878,500 annually for the district.
Emergency levies are based on a specific dollar amount that is to be collected each calendar year and the millage rate is set by the county auditor each year.

Rob, can you please send Jamie the actual resolution from the agenda?  That might help to answer his questions.
